The Dunière Wildlife Reserve is renowned for the density of its moose population (23 moose per 10 km²).
CGRMP (Corporation de gestion des rivières Matapédia et Patapédia) is mandated to carry out the management of wildlife on the reserve, as well as on the land area governed by an agreement for the implementation of articles 36 and 37 of the Act for the Conservation and Development of Wildlife.
A wildlife profile has been established by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Wildlife in order to preserve it. The Dunière Wildlife Reserve has different species such as Black Bear, Lynx, Marten, Fisher, Beaver, Coyote, avian and aquatic species etc., which allow several trappers to trap according to regulations.
